Britain's Got Talent - Babbacombe Theatre's third finalist!

Like most of the country, everyone at the Babbacombe Theatre was glued to their TV screens on the evening of Sunday 31st May watching the finals of BGT!

We were all routing for Danny Posthill. Danny appeared at the venue in the show Stardust in 2012 as the headlining act.  The Stage review stated,  "Enjoying his first season headlining at Babbacombe, Danny Posthill effortlessly gets the audience laughing with his slick stand-up routines". Whilst the local Herald Express wrote, "Danny Posthill’s quick wit was brilliant – non-stop laughs all the way."

Danny Posthill added the Britain's Got Talent Judges, and the show's hosts Ant and Dec, to his impersonations repertoire as he competed in the final. Danny who has been battling illness this week to be well enough to compete, was described by judge Amanda Holden as "slick" after his performance. So it appears everyone who watched Danny feels he is a seasoned professional.

We all wish Danny every success for his future and anticipate him doing well, just as  ventriloquist Steve Hewlett  did who was in the final in 2013, after winning the judges 'Wildcard'. Steve appeared at the Babbacombe Theatre in 2001 in The Sounds Of Laughter and went on to appear in our productions at the Royal Hippodrome Theatre in Eastbourne in 2004 & 2010.

Although he did not reach the finals, we should acknowledge Andrew Fleming making the semi finals this year. He also worked for us when we operated the Royal Hippodrome in 2002.

During the forth series of BGT in 2010, another impressionist won the hearts of the nation as well as the judges. Paul Burling became particularly associated with his impression of television comic Harry Hill and subsequently had his own show for ITV, It's Paul Burling! which aired in December 2010 to a television audience of 3.7 million viewers! Paul graced the Babbacombe boards in the show, Stars in Your Eyes. Funny how he wowed the audiences with his impressions of Harry Hill, who became the host and compere of ITV's show of a similar name earlier this year.

So not one - but three acts who were given the opportunity to develop and master their craft here at the Babbacombe Theatre have gone on to be finalists in one of the nations favourite talent shows- we could not be more proud, and it proves VARIETY IS ALIVE and still ENJOYED by the British public!

We wonder which one of our Babbacombe stars will be gracing your television screens next....come along and see who you think it could be? Our productions
