AUDITIONS, Junior and Senior cast for 2018 season

Babbacombe Theatre are putting out a call to all talented young people who aspire to perform, to attend an audition for the 2018 season on Sunday 12^th November. We are looking for junior boys and girls who can sing and dance well and female dancers who are strong in all aspects of dance that preferably can sing well to.

The junior dance auditions will start at 11am (doors open 10.30am). The minimum age is 6 and whilst there is no maximum age, there is a preferred maximum height of 4ft 11ins for girls and 5ft 4ins for boys. The production team are looking for 4 teams of children, who will alternate performances throughout the year from February – October. There will be up to 19 performance dates per team; however, children with other commitments, including holidays, can be accommodated. It is suggested you come to the audition with the dates you know your child will be unavailable, so once the selection process has been done, the children’s performance schedule can be worked to accommodate for any unavailability’s.

*All the JUNIOR’S will need to sing a song selected by the show’s producer. The song is, ‘When You Believe’. The original track, backing track and lyrics are available for you to down load from this page – LINK BELOW. After the vocal audition our Choreographer, Sadie Oliver will teach a couple of short routines, that all will need to perform in groups, so please be dressed to dance and bring ballet and jazz shoes.

The senior dance auditions are for girls aged 15+, all must have a strong standard in all aspects of dance, so ballet, tap and jazz shoes, will be needed for this audition. Routines will be set for all three genres. The girls should all be between 5ft 2ins -5ft 9ins. It is preferred the dancers have a good singing voice and those wishing to audition are invited to sing if they choose to do so, although it is not essential. It’s worth noting that the Dancers who want to sing will need to provide their own backing tracks. Dancers will need to be at the venue for 12pm.

Juniors and dancers will need to fill in a registration form, they can be done on the day alternatively, you can collect one from the box office OR download the application form and rehearsal schedule. SEE LINK BELOW

INFORMATION THAT MAY ASSIST WITH THIS ASPECT OF THE JUNIOR AUDITION. Children can refer to the lyrics if they choose to do so, albeit they will all get to sing the whole song with the Musical Director a few times prior to their individual audition. When they are performing solo, they will only be required to sing the first verse and chorus.
