For the past five years, the venue has produced shows where the production has favoured the musicals playing on London’s West End stages. The shows generated amazing 5 star reviews across the board and ended with the audience on their feet cheering for more with rapturous applause. Clearly these shows based around the West End Musical are favoured by south Devon audiences, so the theatre’s director and shows producer, Colin Matthews is happy to bring you a new concept for 2017 with - LEGENDS!
Legendry tales such as the Taming of the Shrew becomes Kiss Me Kate, the French Historical novel written by Victor Hugo, is the origin of Les Misérables and who can forget that wonderful novel by Charles Dickens, Oliver Twist that became a massive hit both on stage and screen back in the 1960’s, Oliver. Then there are the Iconic pop acts that have had shows produced around their music, examples of these are, Jersey Boys, Beautiful and Dreamgirls. Combine the shows based on the story with those based on the artiste and their music and you have a vision of what to expect from this show stopping production.
Host and compere, Dean Winters usually connects with the crowds by making them laugh, a mischievous comedian, who has been a firm favourite with Babbacombe audiences for some years. He will prove he is no ‘fool’ whilst delivering a great vocal performance in this production. Other cast members that will be hitting the high notes are our very own dreamgirl, Lisa T. Winter, Stars in their Eyes songstress, Debbie Farrell, international vocalist Becky Bennett, actor and seasoned performer, Darren Lake, Noteable duo, otherwise known as Barry Elmer & Luke Sampson, pop diva, Sami-Jane and the charismatic charmer, Josh Cousins. They are joined by our special guest, Lily Laight, although still only 15, she has a wealth of experience. She appeared with the original cast of Matilda on London’s West End, has appeared on TV in Doc Martin and in 2014 hit the headlines worldwide when the movie, Love Rosie went on release. Teen’s Clayton- Jay Peffers & George Hawkins share the roles of two of musical theatre’s most popular boys including Billy Elliott, perhaps you can ‘Consider Yourself’ who the other character might be?
Pete Leonard orchestrates the music that enables the company to shine and ensuring they all look as good as they sound will be Sadie Oliver, with her skilful choreography.
