Please note due to programming issues we have had to change the schedule of performances, instead of every Saturday  from 3rd August to 6th September, we will now be running two performances. SATURDAY 9th & SUNDAY 10th AUGUST at 7.30pm.

Rehearsals will be in the format of a workshop and will run daily from SUNDAY 3rd AUGUST to SATURDAY 9th AUGUST.

Auditions will now be held on SATURDAY 7th JUNE from 10am.

Continuing their policy for encouraging young talent, and following the success of the popular series of Night Fever shows, Matthews Productions who operate the Babbacombe Theatre in Torquay are pleased to announce that they will be doing another Night Fever for 2008.The all new show will feature young people aged from 15 to 21.

In collaboration with Coombeshead College, Newton Abbot, the Director Colin Matthews aims to find a group of talented young performers who can sing, dance, play a musical instrument or perform magic and would welcome an opportunity to benefit from performing professionally in summer season at the popular venue. The musical direction for this collaboration will be from the colleges Head of Expressive Arts, Mike Prouse and the choreography, which always receives much critical acclaim will be devised by the choreographer of the theatre’s current highly acclaimed production, Love is…Variety, Georgia Lee.

The Night Fever shows have always starred up and coming newcomers, many of whom are still in full time education and the shows always generate superb reviews. Many of the cast that appeared in previous years are now working in the industry all across the globe, with several having played in recent years on London’s West End stage. From a Director/Producers point of view it is an unenviable task to find young people who can meet as good a standard of performance, as in previous years, however there are hundreds of extremely talented and personable young people in this region, many of them having already established they would wish to pursue a career in the Arts, so when a chance such as this affords itself to them, they should really take the call. 

So if you or someone you know wants to have a go at treading the boards and earning not only a bit of extra money but lots of valuable experience that will put them in good stead to pursue their ambition of work within the entertainments industry make sure you do not miss out on this unique opportunity.

Night Fever will run during August, dates are still to be confirmed and the rehearsals will run for the week leading up to opening night. All applicants will need to be available for all performances and all day every day for the rehearsal period.

The auditions for this show will be at the Babbacombe Theatre on Saturday 12^th April from 10am. Candidates who will be singing will need to bring a backing track on mini disc or CD the choreographer, Georgia Lee will take the dancers and teach a routine on the day, wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Anyone who wishes to demonstrate your musical or magic skills will get to do so at the end of the morning.
