Emrhys Cooper set to hit US screens

HOLLYWOOD actor Emrhys Cooper — who grew up in Totnes — plays the lead role in a new worldwide TV drama alongside one of 'the hottest 100 women of all time', Bond girl Denise Richards in Vanity, about New York's fashion elite.

The show is set to be broadcast on US television networks this week and across the globe via YouTube and through collaboration with Amazon.

Vanity is a cross between Gossip Girl and The Devil Wears Prada. It is set against the backdrop of the New York fashion industry.

Emrhys was drawn to performance at a young age. He trained initially with the Pamela De Waal School of Dance in Paignton and it was during this time he appeared at the Babbacombe Theatre in 2000, in two productions, the first being the Top Pop Concert and the latter, a Christmas show titled, The Times of Your Life.
His talent led him to be offered a place at the prestigious Laine Theatre Arts College in Epsom, Surrey, which he graduated from when still only 19. After he graduated Emrhys was snapped up to make his debut in London's West End in the Queen Musical 'We Will Rock You'. This production set in stone his love affair with the stage.  Other UK theatre credits include the National Tour of Fame: The Musical and the role of Orlando in, As You Like It with the Red Earth Theatre Company. More recently in the USA his role in Entertaining Mr. Sloane, won him not only a large amount of recognition, but he was awarded Outstanding Lead Actor in a play by both Stage Scene LA awards and Broadway World Awards.

Also no stranger to the small screen, Emrhys appeared on ITV’s ‘Coronation Street’,  as well as in 'I'd Do Anything' (BBC1), and '999 Lifesavers' (BBC). He is now also a familiar face stateside, guest starring in the high rating prime time show CSI - New York and Desperate Housewives.

He made his feature film debut in the critically acclaimed Bright Young Things and then went on to roles in the feature film Mamma Mia, Natasha, Walk a Mile in My Prada’s, Blood Rush, Altered Perception, Kushuthara: Pattern Of Love, and Till We Meet Again.

Vanity has been created by Emmy Award-winner Bernie Su and will broadcast on digital multi-channel network StyleHaul, with over 264million YouTube subscribers. All of us at the Babbacombe Theatre want to not only congratulate Emryhs on his casting but want to wish him every success with Vanity and with whatever his future holds in store.
