AUDITION FOR BOYS aged 10 to 16

There is a buzz in the air as we prepare to audition for boys aged between 10-16 years for the show The Legends of the West End.

This new show, will run at the Babbacombe Theatre every Thursday from 27th April to 28th September inclusive, with 24 performances in total. The rehearsals will be at the venue from 19th to 27th April and the lucky boy will join the rest of the cast in production numbers during the first half of the show which will include some firm favourites from the show Billy Elliot.

The boy we are looking for will need to be a strong tap dancer, have some experience of ballet, or at the very least be able to pick it up with ease and be able to sing.

As a venue we are renowned for our consistency to be able to produce 5 star shows as well as have the status of being ranked on TripAdvisor as the Number 1 theatre in Devon, so this is a wonderful opportunity for a young man who aspires to perform to gain experience of working with a professional company.

It was in 2006 whilst still only 12 years old, Oliver Taylor was offered his first professional stage appearance at the Babbacombe Theatre in the show the Magic of Variety, he played the role of Billy Elliot. Then only a year later he was treading the boards at the Victoria Palace Theatre, on London's West End starring as Billy Elliot, it was a huge step forward for Oliver and he was a huge success! Many other young boys who have danced as children at the venue have gone on to not only play lead roles on London’s West End as Oliver did, but work in the industry worldwide, including Hollywood!

All the boys auditioning will be asked to sing a song of their own choice, however they will have to pre-register their song choice with the theatre’s management as this audition will be filmed. After singing the choreographer will set a tap routine as well as run a short ballet class where all the boys will work in groups. Tap shoes must be worn for the Tap routine and the boys are all asked to wear suitable attire for dancing.

There is a registration process and all boys will need to be registered to be able to audition.

To register please contact Sharon Waring via email [email protected] or call during office hours on 01803 322233 to apply for the paperwork.
