AUDITIONS FOR DANCERS - Christmas show 2021/2

5th Aug 2021

We are putting out a call to all talented young ladies who aspire to perform, to attend an audition for this seasons forthcoming Christmas Show, which opens on Wednesday 27th October and will run weekly until 1st January 2022. We are looking for dancers aged 15+ who are strong in all aspects of dance that preferably can sing well also. The auditions will be held at the Babbacombe Theatre on Sunday 12th September. The auditions will commence at 11am, doors will be open from 10.30am and all dancers are requested to register no later than 10.45am. The senior dance auditions will enable us to ensure that the strong standard expected from our dancers can be met. Dancers will all need to have experience in ballet, jazz, contemporary and modern dance and will need to bring their own dance shoes. The routines set by the choreographer will incorporate these styles. Dancers should be between 5ft 3ins and 5ft 10ins. It is preferred the dancers have a good singing voice and those wishing to audition are invited to sing if they choose to do so, although it is not essential. It’s worth noting those wanting to sing will need to provide their own backing tracks

More than £300 million has been awarded to thousands of cultural organisations across the country including the Babbacombe Theatre, Torquay in the latest round of support from the Culture Recovery Fund, the Culture Secretary announced last Friday 2nd April 2021 The second round of awards will help the popular Torquay venue to look ahead to the spring and summer and plan for reopening and recovery. After months of closures and cancellations to contain the virus and save lives, this funding is much needed and whilst it will not compensate for the losses that have been incurred during lockdown it should ensure the future of the theatre.
