Resourceful best describes the talents of our headlining act Tank Sherman; he has even more sidesplitting humour that will make you laugh louder than you have laughed in a long time, and having wowed audiences now for three summer seasons, we know he is a firm favourite amongst you. He is joined on stage by other artistes some you may recognise and some you won’t as it will be their first time treading the Babbacombe boards. One such newcomer is Wink Taylor, as a puppeteer he has “had a hand” in a number of CBBC characters and this has taken him around the world. He has also written for some legendary Children’s Television favourites - including Postman Pat, Sooty and Basil Brush as well as having appeared on stage alongside some showbiz legends including Ken Dodd, Paul Daniels and Norman Wisdom, you are bound to love his humour and enjoy his talent. Sharing the stage with Wink will be the delightful and multi talented Wendy Abrahams. A local girl to Babbacombe she has gone on to travel the world as a vocalist, appeared as a showgirl on the continent, performed as a Ventriloquist - appearing in two summer seasons previously at the Babbacombe Theatre, accompanied by her Grandma Nellie puppet or her nervous friend, Colin The Dodo although for this show Wink and Wendy will be introducingTheodore T. Mouse (Theo to his friends), a star in his own right, he is a whisker away from world domination, make no Mousetake!!

Alan Roberts a vocal comedian has a voice like velvet, his crooning style is reminiscent of the late Matt Monro, Alan’s a personable guy who’s humour is usually delivered with quick fire one liners and visual antics. Be assured there will be plenty of antics during this show…keep an eye out for the wayward Nuns…yes you did read that right - Nuns!

Christmas wouldn’t be half as much fun without the obligatory ‘Singalong’ and this show promises some traditional favourites and assisting with that will be another newcomer to the venue, Lisa Walker, a sparkling and effervescent vocalist she will dazzle you along with the full cast in delivering the Spirit of Christmas in abundance.

Keen to please are the vivacious Danze Chique, undoubtedly the trimming for this years Christmas extravaganza, sassy and sexy they will compliment the pacey dance routines as well as adorn the stage, however, a collaboration of inspirational lighting, colourful costumes, sharp choreography and the creative musical arrangements of Pete Leonard make that possible. All in all this combination will ensure that your theatre experience has been part of your very best Christmas…Ever! After all, the theatre experience is never just about the performance.

Entertaining you is what we aim to do with the ‘Christmas Cracker’ show and the producer and director, Colin Matthews has worked twice as hard to make sure that the shows content will be fresh and untimely. Therefore, for this show a new choreographer Wesley Waring will be putting the cast through their paces. Having worked with Wesley previously we know he has dynamics and enthusiasm for his craft, which will ensure all the production numbers, will be vibrant and creative.

Reindeers, Santa, Baubles and Chestnuts are all words we relate to Christmas, in fact it is likely we could take every letter of the alphabet and pick a word, ‘Wherever We Go’ in the world, Christmas is synonymous with Peace and Love, we have lots for you to love including this years Torbay’s Got Talent winner on top of all the other goodies in the cracker… we can’t guarantee the peace though as this show will make you laugh, set your toes tapping and create rapturous applause!

Glitz and glamour come in all guises in this show of festive fun, look out for the guys in 5-inch platform heels, assuming they make it on to the stage and not end up on their hands and knees in the wings!

Last but by no means least, come a long to see Torbay’s Got Talent winner, Emily Kindon, aged just 13, she fought of some extremely tough opposition to secure the title and as you will see, she really is worthy of the accolade.

It is said Love is a journey with no destination. Well there is only one destination to enjoy the emotional roller coaster ride, packed with fun and frolics on the ‘Love Train’ in LOVE IS… VARIETY and that’s with us at the Babbacombe Theatre, Torquay, on the fabulous English Riviera.

‘You Can’t Hurry Love’ so you will need two hours to sit back and enjoy the comedic moments, magical highlights, fancy footwork and memorable musical numbers with an array of talented artiste, whose love knows no bounds, when it comes to inducing the delights and admiration of a warm and friendly audience.

Having wooed and wowed audiences last year with his HUGE talent, it is with great pleasure to welcome back for a second season Tank Sherman - one of the west country’s finest, his unique and clever brand of humour is always original; he is a genuinely funny and very versatile man….naughty schoolboy………penguin…..stinky old cheese……Batman and ‘ I Believe’ you may get a little head over heels as he  takes you fishing!

You will be ‘Star Struck’ by Ruby Washington, an accomplished act. One of the original Diva’s she will whisk you off to a ‘Boogie Wonderland’ as well as to the ‘Moulin Rouge’ as she struts her stuff!

The diminutive Dean Winters will set you all in a spin with his big voice and personable cheeky humour, as he anticipates some ‘Magic Moments’ and he is hoping he’ll ‘Catch A Falling Star’ during the performance.

Also entertaining you will be Ben Nickless, he was the first comedy act to achieve the all important – 3 minutes on televisions ‘Let Me Entertain You’ with Brian Conley. His numerous impressions and ‘boy next door’ appeal had the audience in all of a ‘Marvel’, and no doubt he will generate the same reaction from you. As in deed will our charming songstress, who incidentally, needs ‘Somebody to Love’, Lindsey Collard, she is one of the regions most sought after entertainers. Last but by no means least, bubbly and effervescent, Wayne or as everybody calls him ‘Champagne’ – well travelled and well versed in Love, although I think he may be a little confused as he serenades Tank, though easily done when Tank is all dressed up and shaking about a large can of ‘Hairspray’

‘Timeless to Me’ are the talents of our resident choreographer, Georgia Lee, her skilful interpretation combine well with the exciting musical arrangements of Pete Leonard and the vivacious Danze Chique, execute with enthusiasm the sizzling routines to perfection as will the talented and truly delightful Happy Feet Kids.

Andy Oakley headlines THE MAGIC OF VARIETY, always in great demand he returns to the Babbacombe Theatre for his fifth season. With a whole new edge to his humour, Andy has a distinctive act, an exceptional wit with a fine voice; his incomparable style of performance endears him to audiences of all ages. As well as an old favourite the show introduces the new with Dean Winters, referred to as the ‘ Little Man with the big Voice’. Dean has been entertaining audiences for many years across the globe; his abounding talents include a powerful voice, and a cheeky humour. However Dean is developing a new skill specifically for the show for a cameo role, a little clue… TAP SHOES & A TUTU!

Another Babbacombe Theatre trouper is the one and only Peter Baffles, he will provide the magic and illusion and will have you spellbound with his comedic magical antics as will Donna - Marie, whose own magic comes from within; with her beautiful soprano voice.

Simon Mansfield joins this year’s cast, with his own inimitable attributes. Simon describes himself, as “the Freddie Flintoff of Entertainment” (for those of you that don’t have a keen interest in cricket it means – he’s a good all rounder!). The striking stage presence of Georgia Lee will enthral you as the dynamic diva struts her stuff!

Looking lovelier than ever and back in all their glory are the dancers, Danze Chique. They will present to the very best advantage the skilful choreography of Georgia Lee, working again with the superb musical arrangements of Pete Leonard.

Always favoured amongst the audiences at Babbacombe are the children and this year will be no exception with The Tip Top Tap Kids.  The talented youngsters and the entire cast will pay tribute to the West End’s latest hit show, Billy Elliot, with fabulous musical numbers intertwined with a script that has both passion and humour.

Gifted newcomer, Zac Bauman was born to perform - quite literally, officially referred to as ‘The Showman’ he has spent all his life in front of an audience. Although only 32, Zac has amassed over 20 years professional experience. With his passion for performing as a vocalist and comedian, his natural ability to please a crowd makes Zac ideal to join the highly acclaimed cast at Babbacombe.

Christmas newcomers this yuletide season are Carly Callaghan and Rozie Bond. Both girls wowed audiences in the summer as they joined the cast of talented youngsters in Night Fever. Both girls are pleasing on the eye and even more pleasurable on the ear.

All I Ask Of You, (one of the beautiful show songs we will be featuring), is that you come along and join us for an ‘East End Christmas Knees Up’, some Eurovision favourites, as well as shenanigans in Neverland, ‘Mistletoe and Wine’ and enjoy everything that is ‘The Magic Of Christmas’.

Last but by no means least; the show opens on Tuesday 31^st October and will run every Tuesday and Wednesday throughout November at 8.15pm. Wednesday evenings at 8.15pm on 6^th & 13^th December with matinee performances on Boxing Day 12noon & 3pm, Thursday 28^th December at 3pm and New Years Day 1^st January 2007 at 12 noon and 3pm.

Having enjoyed a successful partnership in previous shows, namely Night Fever and Night Fever Too, Coombeshead College are again working alongside Matpro, and to keep abreast of the ever-changing music industry thr winners of Exeter’s FX Factor have been recruited into the ranks this year.

The seasonal productions at the Babbacombe Theatre have utilised the talent of the youth population in the region for at least the past 15 years, about 180 of them in all, with some appearing as young as only 5s years of age. For many it was their first glimpse of professional theatre. At the last count there are now 46 performers who first appeared as children here and have now gone on to work professionally worldwide in the entertainment industry, and are now making their living performing in musical theatre, ballet companies, holiday parks and on board cruise liners, that’s an incredible 26%.

The theatre’s director Colin Matthews says, “ Although I am not able to give these young people their talent, what I can do is give them the opportunity to perform in a professional theatre in front of live audiences, which provides them with invaluable experience and confidence for the future.”

This year’s NIGHT FEVER will no doubt also prove to be a platform that will improve on that statistic of 26%. With 17 beautiful young ladies and 8 handsome young men, all of who are fabulous vocalists and/or dynamic dancers gyrating to Dirty Dancing, performing ballet to a medley of Beatle’s hits, getting hot under the collar with Steam Heat and performing hits from shows including Footloose, Hairspray, Billy Elliot, Fame as well as the wonderful Braodway hit opening soon on the West End, Wicked - there really is something for everyone to enjoy!

Gary Richard a firm favourite with theatre audiences both here and in Eastbourne will host the show and deliver the comedy element, Wesley Waring who appeared here initially at the age of 10 returns having been working with Qdos and the Stadium Company aboard the Oceana for over a year after graduating from Laine Theatre Arts, both are looking forward to working alongside colleagues from previous years and meeting new friends.

Comedy will feature throughout the show; look out for the Snow White & Magnificent Seven sketch with the Pantomania finale I can guarantee the comedic moments will keep you smiling throughout the celebratory season.

Happy memories will come flooding back as we reminisce with some enchanting musical moments, the company will perform show songs, Motown greats and pop classics.

Regular headliners make a welcome return comedian Andy Oakley is joined again by vocalists Gary Richard and Paul Cobley as well as magician, Peter Baffles. Their wealth of experience and their versatility is undoubtedly what makes them so popular with you all.

Sassy and sexy ‘Danze Chique’ compliment and adorn the stage with their wonderfully pacey dance routines, choreographed by Georgia Lee. They always raise a few temperatures during the cold spell.

Talented ‘TQ2’ a youthful brother and sister duo Laura and Jarrad Pearce are an established act across the Westcountry their enthusiasm and dynamic vocals will be an exciting bonus to this year’s show.

Angel? Christmas would not be complete without an angel or a star to top the tree we have both. Carol Angel a striking vocalist with an extensive repertoire is a star in her own right. This is her first time at Babbacombe Theatre and with her stage presence being head and shoulders above the rest, you’ll see what I mean after curtain up! She is bound to be a big hit.

This show is bursting with super comedy provided by Herbie Adams, a newcomer to Babbacombe Theatre, however a celebrated artiste in his field, renowned for his tremendous rapport with audiences, treating them to all manner of brilliantly worked antics, including his own interpretation of many larger than life characters.  Along with Babbacombe favourite, a very funny and versatile performer, Andy Oakley who has notched up three summer seasons and is back by popular demand, with some new and naughty-nautical surprises in store and the welcome return of the hilarious Birmingham Phantom. Zany vocalist Paul Cobley boasts a melodious voice and with his silly on stage frolics he has become a firm favourite here in the Bay.  Adding more variety to the bill is another newcomer in the shape of comedy magician and illusionist Peter Baffles who has amazed audiences as far afield as Las Vegas.

Its a Cracker is a true review style production with traditional variety acts interlooped with two hours of  entertainment.

Paul Eastwood appears for the first time at the Babbacombe Theatre, although he has appeared for the two previous season at our sister venue, The Royal Hippodrome Theatre, Eastbourne. Alway's a hit, Paul is one of the country's most appealing comedians, with his natural comedic ability and winning personality.

Resourceful is probably the best way to describe the style of Andy Oakley; this show represents his second summer season at Babbacombe. When and audince insists we bring somebody back, we are only to pleased to oblige. Andy probably sums up the title of this years show as he really is in tune with laughter.

Jeanette McFarlane has a gift, a real meloy maker, she is charming and has a voice wrapped in velvet a real asset to a variety show that featurews some of the most loves musical compositions of modern times.

On that note Paul Cobley boasts a distinguishable voice and helps to compliment the songstre within the cast. Although this is his debut appearance this season Paul is no stranger to theatre having perfromed at the London Palladium, his lucid tones along with his quirky quips will most definitely put a smile on your face.

Weny Abrahams introduces you to he 'Nanna' a lovely although sort of odd little old lady, with some stange habits, yet wendy remains composed and in control...well she is a doll!

Ryan Distin is our very own 'Pop Idol; he's handsome, charismatic and has a voice certsin to score a hit.

Chrissy high kicks and hist the high notes with her Hot Shoe Dancers, collectively they'll raise the tempo with their fancy footwork, choreographed by Georgia Lee. They add to the glamour aspect of the show adorning stunning costumes shipped from all over the world. Great Lengths bring great rewards.

A group of talented youngstres aged from 6 - 12 collectively referred to as Kid A Poppin will appear in our very own version of one of the nations favourites, Mary Poppins.

This show really does hit all the right notes!

Its the party season of the year and this show promises to be the biggest and best party of all.

Andy Oakley, always the 'Life and Soul of the Party' gets this show off to a great start and with him to keep things going along in full swing are Steve Stevens, a man of many talents, Peter Baffles, he always has a few cards up his sleeve to amaze and amuse you, Tricia Turner a vocalist that will captivate your attention for a few select moments; with so much mayhem there's no better way to keep the atmosphere at its peak. The clown of the party will no doubt be Paul Cobley, with his infectious laugh he will have you rolling around in the aisles, however with This versatile performer you will also get to enjoy some memorable melodic moments.

Every celebration should have beautifully adorned ladies moving and a grooving and with the Party Mix Dancers that is exactly what you will get, and as you all know nobody enjoys the festivities more than the children so three charming girls have been invited to the party in the guise of The Three Little Maids.

With lots of treats in store you'll be able to enjoy a bumper party bag full of happy memories to share with your friends.

An outstanding array of artistes are here to celebrate in style this Golden Jubilee year. A cornucopia of comedic moments with magical highlights and memorable musical moments performed with versatility and enthusiasm all combine to ensure The Magic Of Laughter will be a performance fit for a Queen.

Magic and Illusion is majestically performed by Keith King returning again after an extremely successful 2001/02 Christmas show, his clever act and subtle humour was a firm favourite with the audience.

Gary Richards a vocal talent with a velvety voice, small in stature but with the voice of a giant, coming from Wales one almost expects this however, his talent doesn't end there, as you will soon discover.

Andy Oakley a cheeky chappy, wins the hearts of audiences everywhere, irrespective of age, with his likeable and warm hearted manner and his resourcefulness as an entertainer is utilised completely in this show.

The Renleah Experience perform feats of magic and illusion, Lisa ably assisted by her assistant Steve are truly amazing!

Expect to be 'Spellbound' by trio Ami, Katie and Tricia. All beautiful English roses, vocally adept with subtle harmonies and radiant personalities.

All royal occasions demand jewels and what better way to adorn The Magic of Laughter than three vivacious Three-Dee Dancers; they definitely add glitz and glamour, however the jewel in the crown is special guest Ruby Washington, an accomplished, international act. Ruby's dynamic voice and performance personify the artiste Ruby most admires, Ella Fitzgerald, Natalie Cole and Whitney Huston.

With the pending revival on the West End at the London Palladium of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, it seems appropriate with the wealth of young talent to utilise these abilities by creating our very own snippet of this great and much loved movie.

We hope you will agree this show has been befitting her Majesty's fifty-year celebration.

This production boasts an outstanding array of artiste who will mesmerise you with their fast and dynamic performances, all of them with the potential to go on and become household names.

Matt Slack, always in great demand returns this year to Babbacombe Theatre with a whole new edge to his humour. This show title could be his allegory, he has a fine voice, is charming in a slapstick fashion, he can dance a bit too, but above all his unique style of performance will leave you wanting more.

Likewise, Steve Hewlett and his friends will WOW you with his ‘Vensational Ventriloquist’ act as will vocalist Gary Richard, who boasts a powerful and velvety voice.

The glamour in this show- there is plenty of it, comes in the guise of The Renleah Experience – a magic act – placing the young lady, Lisa as the magician and Steve as her able assistant and the Four Steps, a group of vocalist who can command the stage with their enthralling voices.

Due to the success of the sing along version of The Sound of Music the show also includes a tribute featuring a wealth of talented, local youngsters aged from 6 to 16 who will play the Von Trapp Kids.

Stars in Your Eyes promises to be a show where Variety comes with a Capital V!

With versatile performers who perform as themselves but mimic some of biggest talents this country has produced you really are in for a treat.

Matt Slack with his incredible comedy talent and amazing versatility has been compared with such stars as Michael Barrymore, Brian Conley & Freddie Starr. As he treads the boards of Babbacombe Theatre you will undoubtedly recognise these attributes your self, whilst he makes you laugh with his comedic abilities, charms you with his fine vocal talent and surprises you with his madcap antics.

Paul Burling, undoubtedly one of this country’s finest impressionist was catapulted into the public arena when he won ITV’s Pot of Gold. Throughout his performance Paul portrays a lot of modern stars including the cast of Only Fools and Horses, Joe Pasquale and Julian Clary, but popularity demands that he also includes favourites such as Norman Wisdom.

Twins, Spencer & Lee return with a speciality act that keeps you on the edge of your seats, with comedy patter and slapstick escapades, also accomplished vocalist and dancers they get to pop up in the most unexpected places.

There is nothing unexpected about this season ‘new girl on the block’ Jolene. A vocal talent way beyond her years dictates this young lady will go far.
